Runes of Magic Now Available as a Smaller Download

For gamers looking to play the popular MMORPG, Runes of Magic, the process just got a lot faster and easier. Today, Frogster released a new 3.5 GB version of the Runes of Magic client, which is about half the size of the full client, which opens the game up to players that might have slower or metered connections to the internet. By optimizing the contents of the initial download package, Frogster is taking steps to continue the growth of the leading free-to-play MMORPG, which has more than 4 Million registered players.

The vast reduction in the size of the slim client was made possible by compressing some of the detail in the graphical textures and sound files. Aside from these two differences, the game and features in the slim client are identical to those of the full client. Runes of Magic Players Get A Mythical Colossus for an Epic Fight

Frogster will soon release the next content update for the popular online role-playing game Runes of Magic, opening up a new area for gamers to explore. In the remote confines of the Southern Janost Forest, new enemies await. Among the many additions that players might encounter is the new world boss, Amboriar. Laying undisturbed for thousands of years, the slumbering colossus has awoken, and it will be up to the players to keep the powerful opponent from falling under the control of dark forces and wreaking havoc on Zandorya.

Amboriar was once one of the mighty Guardians, huge mechanical warriors enlisted to combat hoards of murderous demons in the ancient wars. After proving their valor in many battles, the Guardians were sent on a mission to free Zandorya. Unfortunately, the warriors were attacked on route to the remote continent. Amboriar, its power source damaged, crashed down the side of a mountain where its power core finally overloaded. The giant machine remained there, buried under a pile of rubble that used to be the home of a mighty dwarf civilization.

A few years ago, in the bowels of the very same mountain, the remains of the Guardian were discovered by the bloodthirsty Baron Reuen von Jura. The specimen was so well preserved that it presented an incredible opportunity for the scientists of the Hand of Truth, the rebel faction aiming to overthrow the throne of Zandorya. It would be easy to repair the power core of this robot and reprogram it into an all-mighty ally.

It’s up to the players to prevent this nightmare from happening. No one would stand a chance in combat with the mechanical titan if the Hand of Truth army manages to completely restore its power source. Deep inside the Ruins of the Magnork Kingdom, a crucial battle for the future of Zandorya will take place; a battle so fierce that it will require the joint efforts of as many fighters as the king Callaway can muster.

PHASE 1 OF RUNES OF MAGIC CHAPTER III LAUNCHED

The gates to the third chapter of Runes of Magic have been opened. With the successful launch of update 3.0.0, ‘The King’s Call’, Frogster has just launched the first phase of the extensive expansion ‘The Elder Kingdoms’. Players can now set foot in the first region of the new continent of Zandorya with its imposing cities and vast estates to discover a large array of new game content. The hotly contested Kingdom of Dalanis can be reached by high-level online adventurers after completing a series of quests in the Aotulia Volcano region.

As Chapter III opens, players can expect new rewards including precious armor that can now be endowed with individual attributes by swapping gold and ‘Ancient Mementos’ for special items. In response to community feedback, less-experienced players can now select a difficulty level when entering the dungeons ‘Hall of Survivors’ and ‘Heart of the Ocean’. Cautious players can now also save their game progress in specific instances which means that when loading a saved game status, they no longer need to tackle bosses that they have already defeated.

This first phase of Chapter III also introduces an expanded in-game Monster Card System allowing players to gain valuable cards that are dropped by NPC opponents once they are defeated. The monster cards now have additional attribute points to improve their character’s stats. Update 3.0.0 also contains the announced three new guild drill grounds, six new guild quests and stone fortifications to expand the guild castles. Furthermore, elite skills have been adjusted in order to optimize the game balance.

As with all Runes of Magic expansions, the update is free and will install automatically when the game is started. The Days of the Demon Lord are Numbered In Runes Of Magic

The storming of the last haven of the Demon Lord has begun! Today, Runes of Magic’s new raid dungeon – the ‘Demon Stronghold’ – opens its gates. This is part of content patch ’2.1.6 – Fall of the Demon Lord’, which Frogster will deploy across the servers on Wednesday.

Together with the new raid instance, the online role-playing game is also being expanded with an additional Public Encounter: ‘Bloodbath Valley’. This combat area for large groups, located in the Aotulia Volcano, is divided into four stages – the challenge for adventurers in this high-level area is to master them all. The goal in ‘Bloodbath Valley’ is to stem the threat of the Naga who are receiving support from a powerful guardian. But players aren’t going to be facing the waves of Naga warriors on their own: Flaming demons and special Elven Commandos will battle side by side with the allied adventurers.

On a more peaceful note, the ‘Flower Festival’, the Taborean version of Valentine’s Day, is also beginning. Within this in-game event, amorous adventurers can plant roses or get themselves titles or costumes – including a birthday suit. There’s also a new mini-game to bring a little variety to heroes’ everyday routines: There’s a packed treasure chamber waiting for players who enter a dungeon labyrinth and single-handedly can use their skills to tackle opponents and solve some tricky tasks.

Patch ‘2.1.6 – Fall of the Demon Lord’ also implements another epic quest series in Runes of Magic. This leads players, among other places, to the ‘Great Barrier’ which once kept the sinister Naga in exile. New elite skills, improvements in the hand crafting system, as well as balancing are also part of the update.

Runes of Magic Will Soon Begin It’s Next Chapter

Frogster today announced that it will introduce the next chapter of Runes of Magic this May. Gamers will experience a new continent with unexplored regions, dungeons, a new skill system and an increase in the level cap to 60. Guilds wars will also be expanded with the addition of siege weapons.

Chapter III – The Elder Kingdoms will take players to the newly rediscovered continent. Here, the old kingdom of Dalanis lies in chaos and turmoil with plotters scheming behind the throne of the child-king Callaway. Little remains of the old glory of the ruling dynasty from the time of the legendary King Kalume. In total desperation, the people long for the return of their ancient heroes. So now it is up to all brave adventurers to support the young regent and bring order to the chaos.

Adventurers will be able to take their first steps into a kingdom full of intrigue and uprisings when they enter the Thunderhoof Hills, the first territory in the The Elder Kingdoms. A new zone concept has also been created for the new chapter of Runes of Magic. The new continent has moved away from closed territories and has evolved into versatile and varied landscapes. When gamers journey to the Thunderhoof Hills they will first enter the forest, pass by waterfalls and then enter one of the three new cities to trade and meet other players, or explore a mystery shrouded graveyard of long dead kings while staying within the same zone. One of the new instances, the Dungeon of Dalanis, leads adventurers into the world of shadows beneath the Thunderhoof Hills. Here dreadful terrors lurk that can only be overcome by mobilizing everyone in your group..

The history of the old kingdoms of Runes of Magic will be told in Chapter III through many new quests. Level 55 and above adventurers will become familiar with a new skill system where they can select from a pool of special abilities which will be available to them in combat. There will also be plenty of opportunities to try out these new abilities in the new chapter, including in conflicts with other guilds. The Elder Kingdoms also expands on the existing opportunities which guilds have to equip their castles with new buildings. Rival guilds will also be able to lay their hands on siege weapons. Quests for whole player communities, Player vs. Player rankings and reward systems, as well as a new battlefield – the Tyrefen Mountains – bring additional depth to the PvP game. Three additional mini-games have also been built into the game.

Frogster is already releasing some initial content from the third chapter in the run-up to launch in May. A zone from the new continent, as well as various opportunities for guilds to upgrade their castles, will be released in April to get people geared up for the official launch. Cave of the Water Dragon Coming to Taborea

In the course of the multi-staged release of the second chapter of Runes of Magic, “The Elven Prophecy”, Frogster will publish an additional content update next week. In conjunction with the ‘Aotulia Volcano’ zone, the publisher is adding the ‘Cave of the Water Dragon’ into the live version of the fantasy game world. The new dungeon offers groups of up to six players at the level cap of 55 to experience a fresh setting with new challenges and treasure.

Groups of adventurers will find access to the ‘Cave of the Water Dragon’ across the ‘Throne of the Water’ in the ‘Weeping Coast’ region. During their quest, the elemental being Polython will transport them into the throne room of Zanordoth, the old king of the Water Dragons. His demented son Lytfir has awoken from a lengthy slumber. With heavy heart, King Zanordoth banished the water dragon to the darkest corner of the cave after he turned against his alliance with the humans, forged long ago.

Now, player groups have the task of sending the quick-tempered dragon back to rest. To achieve this goal, they need to collect several soul essences from around the instance. But there are some powerful elemental beings that make life difficult. The essences will let players receive a crystal ball from Zanordoth, which they can use to recapture Lytfir, sending him back to sleep. Frogster America, Inc. today announced that Runes of Magic pre-paid game cards will soon be available at Target stores nationwide. The cards will provide instant access to in-game credits in Runes of Magic, and offer players the opportunity to purchase in-game credits where they shop the most. With more than 1,700 stores in 49 states, players of Runes of Magic will have more options to pay for items that enhance the game. The game cards started shipping to Target stores on October 1st.

“Having our Runes of Magic pre-paid game cards available at Target is a major opportunity for Frogster and our dedicated players who have been asking for a way to quickly buy items in game,” said Lars Koschin, CEO of Frogster America, Inc. “Now they can go to any Target store and be able to spend diamonds the same day. Best of all, there’s also an exclusive mount which is only available to game card buyers.”

Runes of Magic Game Cards come in $20 increments and can be used in the game’s diamond shop to purchase mounts or in-game enhancements. The Target Game Card joins the recently announced Zeevex card program which will make Runes of Magic’s in-game currency available at 7-Eleven stores. Frogster continues to look for additional ways to support the community with alternative payment methods, survey credits and other opportunities that open up the game’s paid enhancements to the free user base.

Runes of Magic ‘Chapter II – The Elven Prophecy’ Officially Launches Today

The second chapter of Runes of Magic is now available online. ‘The Elven Prophecy’ expands the online role-playing game and adds Elves as a playable race with two new classes – Druids and Wardens. The major content addition offers more territories for beginners and advanced players in the fantasy world of Taborea. A packed week of activity awaits players surrounding release day. Among the planned promotional events is a Level Competition where 3,000 in-game diamonds have been set aside for prizes. Additional item promotions will also happen in the coming weeks to promote the new content.

The release of ‘Chapter II – The Elven Prophecy’ also marks the launch of Runes of Magic in France and Spain. The French and Spanish launches mark the end of the open beta phase in both countries and signal the start of official live operations. Runes of Magic is now playable in four fully localized language versions: German, English, Spanish and French.
