Paradox Interactive Unveils Magicka: Vietnam at GDC 2011

The wizards of Arrowhead Studios have whipped up something special for all the Magicka fans out there, today revealing the first expansion for the definitive “blow-up-your-friend” simulator that has taken the fantasy world by meteor storm. Magicka: Vietnam (yes, you read that right) will soon be available on all major digital distribution channels.

Have you ever wondered what it would have been like if wizards were allowed to roam the jungles of war-torn Vietnam, attempting to bring peace and stability to the region by casting spells on all opponents? Frostburgh Holiday Space Blizzard Hits LEGO® Universe Next Week

LEGO® Universe fans, grab your rockets and prepare for blast off – a cool new content zone, Frostburgh is coming to the MMOG next week! Beginning Tuesday, November 30, players can explore a limited-edition wintery world, available only for the holidays. A mighty space blizzard is brewing, so expect plenty of snow and seasonal LEGO fun, with a whole new zone, new racetrack theme and icy cool collectibles on the Frostburgh comet in LEGO Universe.

Within the winter wonderland zone, players can complete new missions every day to celebrate thirty days of Frostivus holiday spirit. Frostburgh only approaches the LEGO Universe Nimbus System once a year, so enjoy all the Frostivus-themed Minifigure fun while it lasts. Players can collect candy canes, start snowball fights, build gingerbread homes, open presents, earn winter rewards, tame new Reindeer pets, and meet new NPC friends like Sneezy Icewhisker, Sugarplum Fritz, Peppermint Lane and Hansel Tinseland.

Runes of Magic Now Available as a Smaller Download

For gamers looking to play the popular MMORPG, Runes of Magic, the process just got a lot faster and easier. Today, Frogster released a new 3.5 GB version of the Runes of Magic client, which is about half the size of the full client, which opens the game up to players that might have slower or metered connections to the internet. By optimizing the contents of the initial download package, Frogster is taking steps to continue the growth of the leading free-to-play MMORPG, which has more than 4 Million registered players.

The vast reduction in the size of the slim client was made possible by compressing some of the detail in the graphical textures and sound files. Runes of Magic – New content update adds epic battle to Runes of Magic

The Guardian’s Awakening brings new content to the virtual world of Runes of Magic, where starting today, adventurers have access to the recently announced world boss Amboriar. The highly anticipated new difficulty levels for the dungeon, Raksha Temple, are also now available, giving players more options in how they play Runes of Magic.

Previously, the Raksha Temple group instance was available in two different difficulty levels for players level 58 and up: easy and normal. Adventurers can now also choose between five additional difficulty levels in normal mode. Opponent values are higher in other modes – ranging from 25% higher in bronze mode all the way up to 125% higher in diamond mode. The difficulty level selected also affects the loot acquired by groups consisting of six players.

To face Amboriar, however, a full group is not enough. Trouble is stirring in a remote mountain valley in Southern Janost Forest, and it will take a brave and well-equipped raid to vanquish the mighty and corrupt guardian who lurks there.
