Understanding And Using Skill Points Properly In Mafia Wars

In Mafia Wars, there are things that you will gain each time you level called skill points. As you head into the game from the start you actually have a base set up when it comes to skill points. These are: 1 attack point, 1 defense point, 100 health, 10 energy, and 3 stamina. Each time that you gain a level in Mafia Wars, you will gain 5 skill points that you can then spend on each of your different attributes however you like. But, to truly use your skill points properly, you need to understand what each attribute does, how it works to your advantage, and where skill points are best placed. Let’s take a look at these attributes in Mafia Wars and what they do for you:

1. Attack Points: Your attack points help you when you attack someone, rob someone or try a hit on someone and they are compared to the overall value of your opponent’s defense points. The amount of your attack points also will have an effect on the damage that you do each time you are attacking someone or defending yourself against someone else. The good thing about attack points is that in the lower levels the size of your mafia matters more and you can always purchase items that will boost this score to help you along the way too.

2. Defense Points: Your defense points work basically the same as your attack points do but they don’t have as much of an effect on damage except when it comes to your opponent’s health points overall. The higher that you get in Mafia Wars, the more defensive points you will need overall. It is easy to purchase items to help boost this score, but there is not nearly enough of these as there are attack items and boosts. So, it’s always a great idea to boost your defensive points when you have skill points to spend.

3. Health Points: While it might seem that you need a lot of health to get through the game, but you actually don’t. In fact, this is one of the areas of your attributes that you really don’t need to dump any skill point into at all. Why? Well, after a fight or attack, you can go to the hospital to heal and your health points automatically refill after time. Plus, once your health drops below 20 anyway, your opponent’s can no longer attack you unless there is a hit out on you. And, by keeping your health low, you’ll minimize the number of fights that you can get in and the number of fights that will be picked with you.

4. Energy Points: Now, this is where the majority of your skill points should go because this is what you will use to level up in the game. Without energy, you will quickly find that you can’t go too far and you cannot level very fast. So, when you have skill points to spend – especially in the lower levels of the game – you must place the majority of them into your energy.

5. Stamina Points: Stamina is one of those things that is only important to those that fight other mafias constantly. The problem is that it will take two skill points to boost this area one point. And, depending on what different type of character you are, your stamina will refill quicker than others, especially if you are a Maniac (which has your refill rate of stamina twice as fast as others). For those that love the idea of being a hitman for a mob, then you want to be a Maniac and dump skill points into this area, but for those that are just interested in playing the game and leveling, then this is not the way that you want to go with your skill points.
