Perfect World Review

Post Rating

Perfect World by Perfect World Entertainment Inc. is really a gem for today’s MMO generation. If you can get past the fact that it’s an Asian MMO (( and some MMOs we’ve seen from Asian companies have been nothing short of linear and boring )) you really will find a ‘Perfect World’.

Pros
- AMAZING character customization.
- Great graphics.
- The ability to acquire mounts and use them to fly.
- Massive non-linear playing world.
- Varying quests that keep you entertained.

Cons
- The mouse-oriented battle system.

Perfect World is probably one of the best MMOs to hit the market since the over-acclaimed WoW. There are so many great things about this game that it’s almost impossible to simply overlook, and here’s why.

First off, the character customization in this game is AMAZING. It’s the best I’ve seen in any MMO. You can customize your character’s weight, height, adjust things like cheekbones, eyebrows, eyes, jawline, etc. There are so many customization possibilities that it is seemingly endless and I feel that this one of the game’s most formidable strong points.

The graphics are very well done, also. It definitely feels like a new age MMO just as it should. It does a great job of making dark forests look dark and loomy, or vast deserts appear vast with a searing sun making your character all hot and bothered. There is really nothing bad to say about the graphics; they’re pretty up to par in comparison with other current MMOs.

The quests in this game are actually innovative. Since Perfect World never keeps you stuck in a specific area, you’re never really fighting the same monsters or dealing with the same people or NPCs, so whenever you’re sent on monster killing quests, you know you’ll never be fighting something you’ve already fought, and you know that doing odd jobs for gold on the side will never become repetitive.

The only thing that bothered me about this game was the battle system. If you’re a fan of the old school click-n-play MMO battle systems, this game’s battle system will definitely tickle your fancy, but it’s just not my thing. Attacks are carried out by clicking on a monster, while your character will attack that monster for each time you click on it, and you move around the battlefield clicking on a certain spot for your character to run to (( or simply hold the left mouse button down to continue in that direction, as the spot marker updates itself constantly. ))

Overall, this game is a gem for this generation of MMOs, and if you can get past the battle system, I suggest picking it up, and you will probably never leave your room again.
