Why Should You Still Do The Shattered Sun Quests
Yes, I know – the expansion is here and you want to go to Northrend when you are level 68. Forget Shattrath, forget Shattered Sun right? Well, you might change your tune just a little bit after you read this. Because by simply doing these daily quests each day when you hit level 70 can actually gain you some great gold, good loot, and you’ll find that you’ll gain some great XP while you’re at it – without having to fight other players for the quest items, mobs, or areas!
The Isle of Quel’Danas is where many pre-WotLK 70′s spent their time doing dailies. The gold was good for both the drops and the quest rewards and the quests overall are pretty darn easy. So, you would find way too many people here every time you logged on to try to do your dailies. You would end up spending more time than you wanted here because of all the other players were wiping the mobs before you could get to them and you would have to wait for respawns.
Well, that is no longer the case.
The Isle itself is pretty empty every time I go now (and yes, I do still head there to gain some quick easy gold and loot every now and then), and I recommend that you head over there too when you hit level 70 with your toon. Not only will you gain great rewards for your efforts, but the XP you gain from level 70 to about level 73 is decent. You’ll gain anywhere from 9350 to 20950 XP per quest that you turn in, and the quests can easily be grouped together so that you can spend less than 45 minutes here and gain over 100K XP – along with all that gold and loot.
So, see, it’s worth it when you just want to do something familiar and easy that will still gain you some xp. Plus, many players have completely forgotten about this area and avoid it now, so there is hardly ever a wait for respawn and you can easily get through the area asap.
Not familiar with the Isle or the quest there yet? Well, here is a short mini-guide to the quests on the Isle of Quel’Danas for the Shattered Sun rep for you to use to get started (thanks to WoWWiki):
Once you reach level 70, you get to start on your Shattered Sun reputation which means that you get to head over to the new island in the game, the Isle of Quel’Danas. This new storyline in the game was implemented in a patch over the summer and you are actually fighting with all of the players on your server, Horde and Alliance, to retake specific locations and activate portals, and other quests that are vital to the storyline and to get your reputation. All of the quests are gained on the Isle of Quel’Danas, except for one that you get and do in Shattrath City. The vast majority of the quests themselves take place on the isle as well, but some are done in other areas of the Outland, so be prepared to head back to the mainland.
To help you on your way, here is the quests that you will need to get and do, especially the daily quests, when you are only neutral with the Shattered Sun:
1. Crisis at the Sunwell and Duty Calls (Shattrath City and the Isle of Quel’Danas) this puts you at neutral with Shattered Sun.
2. Hard to Kill (Quel’Danas) gives Heroic attunement to Magister’s Terrace.
3. The Missing magistrix (Quel’Danas/Throne of Kil’Jaeden)
Daily Quests:
1. Magister’s Terrace (Quel’Danas) gives 250 rep.
2. The Scryer’s Scryer (Quel’Danas) gives 250 rep.
3. Enter, the Deceiver… (Shattrath City/Quel’Danas)
3. Gaining the Advantage (Shattrath City/Outland) gives 250 rep.
4. Sunfury Attack Plans (Shattrath City/Netherstorm) gives 250 rep.
5. The Multiphase Survey (Shattrath City/Oshu’gun) gives 250 rep.
6. Blood for Blood (Throne of Kil’Jaeden/Quel’Danas) gives 250 rep.
7. Blast the Gateway (Throne of Kil’Jaeden/Quel’Danas) gives 250 rep.
8. Your Continued Support (Quel’Danas) gives 250 rep.
When you hit Friendly with the Shattered Sun, then you can get the quest “A Friend in the Frontlines” along with the daily quests.
When you hit Honored with them, you can get “Honored by Your Allies” along with your daily quests.
At Revered, you get “Revered in the Field of Battle” along with your daily quests.
And, at Exalted, you’ll get “Exalted Among All Combatants” and “A Magnanimous Benefactor”.
The daily quests are done all over the Isle of Quel’Danas, and you will find yourself running everywhere to do them. Of course, there are other daily quests that you can get, but only until you reach certain levels within your reputation. I will do another mini guide to help you find where you need to go on each different quest so that you aren’t running around lost like I was at first.
