Want a slower change of pace from WoW, WAR, or any of the other hundreds of different MMO games out there? Well, I found one newer browser-based MMORPG called The West that I’m digging on right now and you might too. Here’s Xiecy’s review of this fun game that has me checking in every few hours to see where my toon is and what else needs to be done.
When it comes to MMORPG games, yeah, I’m there when I hear a new one is out. And, when a friend told me about Tribal Wars (thanks Sinnj), I had to check it out. I’ve been playing it for awhile now and I’m loving it too. But, there are always those ads for other MMORPG games that are run by the same company on the right side of my screen and I finally decided to check out The West one day a couple of weeks ago.
At first, it seemed like kind of a boring MMORPG to me. But, I kept playing it for something else out of the ordinary to do – and after a day or so, it kind of stuck. While it’s not quite like a normal MMO that I play, it’s a browser-based one instead, which makes it slower going – yet easier on my computer. Nothing to download, nothing to install, simply log in and go.
You start off with a normal level one character. While you don’t get to choose how your toon looks or anything like that, you can choose male or female. Once you hit level 10 you can choose a class for your toon and one of four different looks that go along with that class. (I’m not there quite yet – only at level 8 now, but I’ll let you know more when I hit level 10.)
The bar that you start off in will give you basic quests that will give you clothing and show you how to play the game and what all you’ll need to do to up your skills and more. So, it’s got a great learning curve. And, you don’t have to worry about anyone flat out attacking you while you’re learning which is also nice.
Now, I am still trying to figure out somethings, such as selling extra things that you have in your inventory – but I’ve already upgraded to the premium account since I’m having so much fun with this one. I’ll keep you posted on my next moves in the game, as I’m sure I’ll be playing it for a while to come. If you want to join me, head over to The West and look for Kirsttheworst on World 7… that’s me, and I’m happy to help you out if I can!
