Alright – by now, many of you MMO fans out there have heard the buzz about Star Trek Online. Well, I have too. And, I had to go check it out. So, I headed over to www.startrekonline.com and checked out the information there on the game so far. I mean, if ever a movie/tv show deserved to be immortalized in an MMO game – well, Star Trek is it right?! Not only do they have tons of movies, tons of shoot off series, books, toys – ‘er action figures, games, comics, and more… they have some downright cool characters that would look awesome on my computer screen with me in control!Well so far, not much is set in stone for Star Trek Online’s beta phase. But, it is already known that you can choose from a Federation Captain or a Klingon captain, where you’ll customize your toon just the way you like – and then head out exploring, recruiting crew memebers, fighting enemies, and just flying your own ship around the vast reaches of space. You get your own phaser for goodness sakes! That alone is sweet. Plus the fact that you get your own ship to customize how you want it? Oh, man, where’s a chair – I need to sit down!Every week, the site will release new screenshots, hour-long clips of game play, new information, Q&A’s with the development team, and more great information to get your gaming heart racing.
So, personally I signed up for the newsletter and if you’re interested in the game and finding out about it, I would suggest that you do too. This way, you have the latest information and when they announce the beta, you can also be one of the first to register – well, right behind me that is. But, back to the game itself. I personally cannot wait to see this one. And, I think that if Cryptic can do it right, then they have one great opportunity to become a huge MMO game out there. So, let’s hope that they get it right and don’t mess up something as sweet as a Star Trek MMO game.
