Toon Professions

There has been some discussion about toon professions. Professions are not a waste of time. They add to the game economy, and they add to your gold amount. Some save health, and enhance armor. Inscription can transport a toon under level 40 to Shattrath. It is best that a player have an idea on what kind of profession the toon will have, when the toon is created. Read about toon professions on the www.worldofwarcraft.com forums, and get an idea about what kind of professions you enjoy. When toons reach level 5, they are allowed to select two professions. They are also allowed to learn fishing, cooking and first aid. First aid is vital to learn, even though the quest in Theremore can be one of the more tedious quests in the game. Cooking is beneficial to hunters and their pets, for the buffs given of extra strength. Fishing is beneficial for healing. Fish also sell well in the auction house. A stack of winter squid sells for 3 gold. A toon can fish, and catch herbs, recipes, books and cheap armor that vendors well. World of Warcraft has two kinds of professions: gathering, and crafting. Gathering professions include mining, herbalism and skinning. Crafting professions include leather working, blacksmith; jewel crafting, alchemy, inscription, engineering and tailoring. Enchanting is another useful profession. It is sometimes paired with tailoring. The matches are a crafting profession with a gathering profession. This would include herbliasm with inscription, herbalism with alchemy, mining with blacksmith, and mining with engineering, mining with jewel crafting. Tailoring can go with mining or by itself with enchanting. Toons with two gathering professions are very busy, but the items can be sold at the AH. Other good sellers at the AH are: alchemy potions, inscriptions and armor from blacksmithing and leatherworking, as long as it’s green or blue. Tailoring items do well at the AH.Engineering and jewel crafting, in my 2 ½ year experience with World of Warcraft are the worst sellers in the game. But, engineers make the thorium shells, and they sell in stacks quite well, for the trade in quest in Iron Forge. Engineers are very useful in Borean Tundra. As for jewel crafting, it is fun to create the items, but it does not sell well on my server. It does not bring in the gold spent on it, so far. Mining makes up for this. The items from disenchants sell well, but it is a very expensive profession to level up later on. Everyone wants something disenchanted, so it helps to create a macro like this: “Doing enchants, unholy enchants, your mats.”With the new Expansion pack, professions can now reach as high as Grand Master. Grand Master trainers can be found in Dalaran, and in Howling Fjord, and Valiance Keep. For the horde they can be found in Vengeance Landing, and Warsong Hold.
