If you are like I was, I could not wait for the expansion to come out so I could check out the new Death Knight. Let me tell you right now – it DOES NOT disappoint! And if you haven’t played a Death Knight yet, you simply must do it now. I sat and played the Death Knight beginning area straight through the beginning areas that train you on your abilities and I have to say that it was one of the funnest areas in World of Warcraft that I have ever played. From start to finish, the whole training quest line took me about an hour and a half straight. And, to help all of you out there that have yet to sink your money into the expansion, Wrath of the Lich King, here is the complete Death Knight guide for the Horde Death Knights!
1. When you arrive, talk to the Lich King directly in front of you and get “In Service of the Lich King”.
2. Then, go down into the Heart of Acherus and talk to Instructor Razovious and turn that quest in and get “The Emblazoned Runeblade”. You’ll go forward and to the right and get a weapon off the racks there, which will give you a battle worn sword. Now, you head to one of the Runeforges and create a Runebladed Sword. Then, head back to Instructor Razovious and turn that quest in. He will then give you “Runeforging: Preparation For Battle”.
3. Head over to the Runeforge again and forge your weapon with one of the two forging skills that you have. These are in your “P” menu, under Runeforging. When you have done that, turn that quest in and get “The Endless Hunger”.
4. Now, head down into the pit and free an Initiate and kill them. Head back up and turn that quest in and get “Death Comes From On High”. You’ll head up to one of the balls floating on a stone pedestal by where the Lich King is and click on it. Carefully, you’ll investigate the four areas by flying over them and clicking “1″ on your hotkeys. (Hint: the chapel is outside of the city walls, toward the very back of the area. It’s a really pointy building in the corner.) When you have it done, turn it in and get “The Might of the Scourge”.
5. Go behind the Lich King and go into the glowing pink portal. Then, you’ll turn that quest in and get “Report to Scourge Commander Thalanor”.
6. Now, head behind him and get “The Power of Blood, Frost, and Unholy”. ** You’ll also want to train here now.
7. Turn that quest in and head back to the pink portal. Head up behind it and turn in “Report to Scourge Commander Thalanor” so you’ll get “Report to Prince Valanar at Death’s Breach”. Hope of the little Scourge Gryphons (the skeletal dragon things), and head down to Death’s Breach. When you get there, turn it in and get “The Scarlet Harvest”.
8. Then, turn that in and get “If Chaos Drives, Let Suffering Hold the Reins”, “Grand Theft Palomino”, “Tonight We Dine In Havenshire”, and “Death’s Challenge”.
9. The first one I did was “Grand Theft Palomino” because this gets you your mount. So, go down, (kill Scarlet Crusaders on the way) and to the left to find the horses in the fields for this quest. Hop on one, ride it up the hill and turn this quest in. When you do, you’ll get “Into the Realm of Shadows”. Go ahead and do this quest now. You’ll go into the Realm of Shadows, and you need to go down the hill to be able to kill the horseman. When you do – hop on his horse, ride up the hill and then click on the button to return to the land of the living and turn that quest in. Boom, you have your free, schweeeeeet mount!
10. Now, go do and turn in “Tonight We Dine…” and “If Chaos Drives…” and finish up your duels and turn it in too.
11. Get “Gothik The Harvester” and then turn that in to get “The Gift That Keeps On Giving”. Go do it and turn it in.
12. Then, get “An Attack of Opportunity” and turn it in to get “Massacre at Light’s Point”.
13. This quest requires a bit of timing, and I’ll explain. First, you go down and get in the little cart which is at the back of the mine (Don’t go through the mine, go around). The little dude will take you down and up onto a ship. When you get up, immediately go to a cannon and start firing. It took me a few hits to get the hang of it, but it’s easy. Here is the timing – you have to watch for the Scarlet Warriors to come up onto the ship and hit the lightning button to wipe them out or they’ll get you. All of these are elites here – so don’t get killed, you can’t get to your body. Once you have all the kills you need, hit the little “escape” button and get outta there.
14. Turn that in and get “Victory of Death’s Breach”. Then, get on a gryphon and go turn it in at Ebon Hold. Get “Will of the Lich King” and train while you’re up here.
15. Head back down to Death’s Breach and turn that quest in to get “The Crypt of Rememberance”.
16. Mount up and head down the hill and stay to the right of the field and you’ll come right to the crypt. Along the way, pick up “The Plaguebearer’s Request”. Go into the crypt and turn in the quest you have to get “Nowhere to Run and Nowhere to Hide” and “Lambs to the Slaughter”.
17. Head out and do them all. You’ll go up the hill and just start killing… The stuff you need for the “Plaguebearer’s Request” is in the following places: the chain is immediately to the left when you go into the city walls in the blacksmiths by the pond, the cauldron you need is to the right in the Inn on the very bottom floor. You’ll gather up skulls as you kill.
18. When you have them all done, go turn them in (starting with the crypt quests) and get “How to Win Friends and Influence Enemies”. Then, go turn in the “Plaguebearer’s Request” and turn in any extra skulls for more elixirs. Now, go do “How to Win…”. I had to kill several guards before one finally talked – here is the trick – go up further into the little town to find one and get away from the scourge that are near the gates or they’ll kill them before they can talk. Also, make sure you equip the sticks – both of them.
19. When you’re done, go turn it in and repair and sell any junk items you have at the little guy on the wall. You’ll get the next quest “Behind Scarlet Lines”.
20. Head south to the tavern and turn that quest in and get “The Path of the Righteous Crusader” and “Brother’s In Death”.
21. Head out into Scarlet Hold and do these both. One guy is in the basement, and the paper you need is up on the top floor. Then, go turn them in and get “A Cry For Vengeance”.
22. Head over and turn that in to get “Special Suprise”. Go do that in the little house that is to the back and left of the chapel. Then turn it in and get “A Sort of Homecoming”.
23. Turn that in and get “Ambush at the Overlook”. Now, you’ll head to the north east here, and you can use your little “tree” disguise or not here – it’s really corny, but funny. Kill the courier and get his stuff. Then, head back and turn this quest in.
24. Get “Meeting With Fate” and go do it. Turn it in to get “The Scarlet Onslaught Emerges”.
25. Head back and turn it in to get “Scarlet Armies Approach…” and then take the portal to Acherus.
26. Turn that quest in and get “The Scarlet Apocalypse”. Then, you’ll get on the Gryphon and head over Death’s Breach and find the Lich King who will now be standing on a big platform overlooking the fields below. Turn that quest in and get “An End to All Things”. You’ll get a Gryphon for a bit to fly over the Scarlet Armies below and destroy them… it’s really fun, but watch your mount’s energy and eat the Scarlet Army men when you need to!
27. Turn that in and get “The Lich King’s Command”.
28. Now, turn north from where the Lich King stands now, and head that way – don’t go down the hill. Head into the cave and around and down the hill to turn in “The Lich King’s Command”. You’ll then get “The Light of Dawn”.
29. This part stunk, but was funny in a way. You have to stand there for a while and watch a little scene between the leaders of the armies and the Lich King. In the end, the Lich King runs away… ha ha ha. Turn that quest in and then get “Taking Back Acherus”. You’ll hop the portal to Acherus and turn that quest in.
30. Get “The Battle for Ebon Hold” and go do it by taking the pink portal down and killing scourge.
31. Turn it in and get “The Warchief’s Blessing”. This will send you up to the portal to Orgrimmar to talk to Thrall. Go through the portal and into Orgrimmar.
32. ****WARNING**** All of the guards will throw rotten food at you, spit on you, call you names, and threaten to “string” you up. Just head to Thrall’s chamber and turn in the quest. Once you do, you’ll instantly be friendly with Orgrimmar and you’ll be able to mount and all that jazz.
You are now through with your WoW Death Knight training and you can start to level your World of Warcraft Death Knight just like you normally would from this point. The one part that really sucks is that you have to start from scratch on any of your professions in WoW, so any gathering professions will really suck, as you have to go back through beginning areas. Although, it can help you get your exploration achievements if you are big on those. Make sure that you determine which talent tree of the Death Knights you want to go with, so you can start to gather gear for that specific setting that will help you with your Death Knight DPS. And, you get a free Death Knight flying mount to take you all over the Outlands… who can beat that?
