How To Manage the Coilfang Reservoir Slave Pens

As you progress through the levels of World of Warcraft, there are several instances that you will have to run in order to gain either reputation or finish quests. One of these instances is the Slave Pens in Coilfang Reservoir. While there are many level 70′s who have ran the Slave Pens several times, there might be newer high levels that aren’t familiar with them or how the bosses are situated so they may need a bit of help when it comes to managing the Pens and not getting the whole party wiped by going to the wrong boss first. So, here is the run down on the three main bosses that you will come up against in the Pens and how to handle them.

The first that you will fight will be Mennu the Betrayer. He usually patrols the ramp that will be surrounded by tons of mobs and these are a pain to get through sometimes as well. Mennu himself is a Shaman-type boss, so not only does he melee attack but he’ll also throw some major totems out that will be a mess to deal with if they are not taken out quickly as well. You will need to have a designated person that will destroy these totems asap when he throws them down so that they don’t do too much damage – especially the one that heals him. Overall, he is not that hard to deal with as long as all of the group members know what their jobs are when dealing with him.

Now you get the joy of killing Rokmar the Crackler. He resembles a huge, crab-like thing that Blizzard must have created after a bad dinner at a sea food restaurant. Have your main tank be prepared, as he’ll head for the main tank with a huge amount of melee attacks right off. He uses a debuff that does 850-1000 damage every 2 seconds and a frostbolt attack that will slow everyone down. So, your healer will need to immediately pull these off of the group so that they can’t do too much damage. If your main tank goes down because of these two things, then the group is pretty much done for. But, you need to also assign a couple of off tanks so that Rokmar will go down faster.

And now, the third and final boss is Quagmirran. A monsterous type of Bog Lord boss, he is really one of those bosses that your tanks will have to fight. He is mainly a melee fighter and your main tank will be the one that he will immediately go after as well. Your main tank will take his poison volley attack which will do 2500-2600 nature damage instantly, and then a cleave attack that will arc to everyone in the path of it. So, your healer will have to make sure that they instantly take off the nature damage and try to heal the main tank asap when he/she is hit. It’s actually best to make sure that the main tank has a nature healing potion already at work so that they can take the majority of it off. But, the main tank will need to make sure that they keep Quagmirran on them and away from the rest of the group.

Sound easy? It really is once everyone in the group knows their jobs. Once you are done with these three bosses and the major mobs that are in the Pens, you’re done. The fights with the bosses are the main thing, and your healer and main tank will need to be on top of their game to get it done fast.
