So Long George…
Well, I turned on my computer just now and I saw in big bold print that my favorite comedian of all time had just died from heart failure – George Carlin. Any of you that visit my MySpace know that I usually have quotes from him up there. While this post is in NO way MMO game related, I just wanted to give a holler out to the master of off-beat comedy…
The world will miss you George.
My first taste of George Carlin was sneaking a listen to my mom’s records (yes, vinyl records) of him on stage in the 70′s. I’m sure that if she knew we were listening to him, we would have gotten in serious trouble… But, George Carlin is where I learned to cuss “correctly”. Without his guideance, I might have always gotten it wrong.
As I grew up, I never missed one of his specials on TV, just because the man was funny. And, one of my favorite movies of all time, “Dogma”, has him playing a Catholic Priest of all things… I mean, come on… But, anyhow – I absolutely love him for standing up and saying what he wanted to, no matter if it was really funny or not. He was a genius when it came to creating comedy that was funny, but in a weird kind of mean way… you gotta love someone like that. And, when all of the critics said how terrible he was, how vulgar he was, and so on, he kept on going and being himself.
Wow….
